4th Grade Unit 9 Timetables Vocabulary Activities

EMRAH BEYTAŞ
09131022       3-B
WORD GUESSING GAME

Aim: This activity is used to make students practice the new words they have learned in noticing and structuring activities. If they use the new vocabulary, then they can easily understand and use them in daily life. They will become autonomous receiver of those new words and they also automatically answer almost all questions including that subject.

Vocabulary: Numbers from twenty to sixty/ Prepositions of time

Materials: - A document of timetables (lesson schedule of the students made by teacher)
                   - A flash disk or cd for the document
                   - Pc
                   - Projector
                   - Cards on which there are lessons

Time: 10 minutes

Procedure: Firstly, the teacher introduces a document of timetables (lesson schedule of the students made by teacher) in which there are days, hours and lessons. The teacher makes two or three groups in terms of the size of the class. He or she explains the game rules. He or she calls a student from one group to the front of the class. The teacher sticks a card on the student’s back on which there is name of a lesson. The other students sitting down should see what is on the student’s back, but not the student standing. The student standing has to ask the others many questions to guess what is pinned on his or her back. The student should ask questions like “Which day is it? and What time is it? etc.”. His or her team should help him or her with answering his or her questions (“It is on Monday.” and “It is at ten thirty.” etc.) The other students can’t tell the student directly what the word is. After the student guesses the correct lesson, one of the other members of the same team comes and makes the same. (The student who has known the lesson correctly takes a card on the teacher’s table and sticks it on his or her teammate who comes on board) The teacher looks his watch and after a minute he or she says “Time is up.” and writes one point for each lesson they have known. Then, other team starts to make the same thing. After all teams finish their turn, the teacher looks at the points and announces the winner team.
