4th Grade Unit 9 Timetables Speaking Activities

PRESENTATION

Language Point: Telling time

Activity: Information gap

Aims: The main aim of this activity is to make young learners tell the time appropriately. If they use their knowledge, creativity and memory together, they can can easily express telling the time.


Materials:          - Presentation made by teacher (with the help of presentations and pictures on the internet)
                          - A flash disk or cd for the presentation
                          - Pc
                          - Projector



PROCEDURE: Teacher comes to classroom and introduces the topic. After he or she turns on the powerpoint on pc, explains the rules of the game: he or she says that we will play a game in which two student will come to the board. The teache chooses the students who are the shiest ones in speaking activities. Student A asks student B a question with using the clue in the presentation (pictures on which verbs of daily routine: wake up, study, etc. ). For instance he or she asks : “What time do you wake up?” and the other one answers: “I wake up at seven o’clock.” etc. After two or three slides, there is a clock which points out a time. The students ask and answer the time as follows: “What time is it?” and “It is three twenty.” etc. After the slides end, student A asks student B the two clocks which are in the presentation. Student B writes the hours of the clocks on the board if he or she remembers. The teacher asks the class if it is true or not. ( The teacher should prepare at least 3 powerpoint for each group which involves 8 slides including 2 clocks and 6 verbs of daily routine)
