5th Grade Unit 10 Cartoon Characters Game Activities


                                               LESSON PLAN

Grade:                       5

Subject:                     Cartoon characters

Materials:                  the pictures of cartoon characters and their favorite foods and a small ball.

Aims:        
                
1-)  Students will work in groups cooperatively.
2-) Students will enjoy in the lesson
3-) Students will try to win the game.
4-) Games will increase positive attitude towards language learning.
5-) It will motivate the students
6-) Students will study on the topic in an enjoyable atmosphere.
Activity 1:

COMPETITION GAME

Materials: the pictures of cartoon characters

Aims:

1-)  Students will work in groups cooperatively.
2-) Students will enjoy in the lesson.
3-) Students will try to win the game.

Procedures:  The class is divided into 2 groups, A and B. Each group includes students equally. Firstly, a student from A comes to the board and the teacher gives a flashcard without showing other students. The flashcard includes the picture of a cartoon character or a food. He or she tries to describe the character and his or her group mates try to find out cartoon character or food. The student who is trying to describe the picture can only use 3 sentences abot the picture and his or her group members have only 3 chances to find the correct character or food. If group A finds the correct answer, the teacher gives a plus to them but if they don’t know, the teacher gives a plus to B group. The game continues until all of the students descibe  a picture, then the winner is determined.

Activity 2:

BALL GAME

Materials: a small ball.
Aims:

1-)  Students will ask questions to each other,
2-) Students will create their own sentences about the topic,
3-) Students will study on the topic in an enjoyable atmosphere.

Procedures:  Students build a circle.First of all, the teacher asks a questions about the topic they studied and throws the ball to astudent. Then, this student answers the question and asks another question and throws the ball to another student. This continues until all the students say something. ( the questions can be like that ‘ who is your favorite cartoon character?, do you lile Tom? What are you like? Does Jerry like Tom? What is you father like? Do you like playing games and so on. )
