SONG LESSON PLAN

6th Grade

Unit: The Seasons and The Weather

Language Points: Making the students aware of some vocabularies, chunks, pronunciation and usage of the weathers and seasons

NOTICING

Activity: Powerpoint presentation, repetition

Materials: Computer, projector, powerpoint

Aim: The aim of this activity is to prepare the students for the lesson, make them aware of the vocabularies, structures, pronunciation.

Procedure: The teacher uses the powerpoint presentation to teach the vocabularies, chunks and pronunciation of the weathers and seasons by using pictures on the slide and repetition. The students see, listen and repeat the vocabularies and chunks.

STRUCTURING

Activity: Song

Materials: Computer, projector

 
 
Aim: The aim of this activity is to make the subject permanent in the students’ mind, to have an amusing lesson, to make them participate in the lesson, to use authentic material for their needs.

Procedure: The teacher plays the song once to make them aware of the song. After they have listened and watched once, the teacher plays it twice, but this time, they will also participate the song. The teacher will stop the song after it has been said on the song; “What’s the weather?” and the students will say “It’s sunny etc…” It will continue like that. The teacher may use her/his gestures, mimes and body language in the part of “cold, hot, windy, rainy etc…” If they want, the teacher may play it for the last time.

PROCEDURALISING

Activity: Weather forecast

Materials: Computer, projector
 

Aim: The aim of this activity is to make the students participate in the learning process, to see how much they have learnt, to make them use the language.

Procedure: There is a video which is a weather forecast around the world. In the video, Tim Tiger is presenting weather forecast around the world with pictures about the weather. The teacher will pause the video after the anchorman has said; “what’s the weather?” Then the students will reply it by looking at the picture. The teacher may select the students randomly or may ask all of them.
