GRADE 5 UNIT 8 MY  FAVOURITE ACTIVITIES

TEACHING STORYTELLING

OBJECTIVES:

1.      To teach narrative structure and practice description

2.      Vocabulary, context, grammar and repeat story are some of the objectives.

3.      Create interest, listening skills, for application in various ways- organizer, artwork, open-ended responses etc

4.      Teaching culture or having students use this as a creative way to practice speaking or writing.

5.      Vocabulary development, mastery of syntactic structure, understanding of English story organization.

PROCEDURE

1.     Teacher tells the ‘Snow White  and Seven Dwarfs’ story.

2.      Teacher uses her voices differently while acting different characters.

3.      Teacher uses pictures while telling the story.

4.      Teacher uses characters’ mask while telling the story.

5.      Teacher uses repetition all the time.

6.      Teacher focuses on the like, don’t like and doesn't like structure.

7.      Teacher use her high voice while telling the activities’ names.

MATERIALS

1.      Pictures hanging out on the board.

2.      Characters’ masks.

  SNOW WHITE AND SEVEN DWARFS

          Once upon a time, in a far place, there is a beautiful princess. Her name is Snow White. Her hair is black. Her lips are red. Her skin is white. Snow White likes all people. Snow white likes dancing and singing. There is a bad woman. This bad woman is Snow White's stepmother. Her name is Queen. She doesn't like people. She likes dancing and singing, too. She doesn't like Snow White. Queen always asks her mirror a question. This question is 'Mirror! Mirror! Who is the woman who likes dancing and singing most in this world?' Every day the mirror says the same thing 'You like dancing and singing most'.  Queen is very jealous because Snow White likes singing and dancing most. One day Queen asks her mirror again 'Mirror! Mirror! Who is the woman who likes dancing and singing most?' Mirror says 'Snow White likes dancing and singing most. Not you!' Queen is very angry. She wants to kill Snow White. Snow White likes listening to other people and she hears this. She likes running so she runs to forest. She sees a house. This house is Seven Dwarfs' house. They see Snow White. They introduce themselves to Snow White.

          Hello I am Bashful. I like wearing yellow hat. I like my grey beard. I am shy so I don't like speaking with other people. I like playing games myself. I like watching TV alone but I don't like cooking.

          Hello I am Doc. I like wearing dark blue hat. I like my orange beard. I don't like wearing my glasses. I am the leader of the seven dwarfs. I like deciding what to do. I like swimming too much but I don't like playing football.

          Hello I am Dopey. I like wearing blue hat. I like my brown beard. I don't like my red nose and I don't like my long ears. I am the youngest of seven dwarfs. I like playing games with my friends but I don't like sleeping too much.

          Hello I am Grumpy. I like wearing red hat. I like my grey beard. I am a stubborn dwarf. I like saying 'no' to everything but I don't like helping to other people.

          Hello I am Happy. I like wearing orange hat. I like my brown beard. I am happy all the time. I like making jokes. I like smiling every time but I don't like telling lie to my friends.

          Hello I am Sleepy. I like wearing green hat. I like my yellow beard. I like sleeping too much but I don't like studying. I am yawning all the time.

          Hello I am Sneezy. I like wearing yellow hat. I like my dark brown beard. My finger is ready under my nose to stifle a sneeze. I don't like sneezing but I can't control my sneezing.

          Snow White likes these Seven Dwarfs and they also like Snow White. They live together. One day, Snow White cleans the house and cooks meal. Snow White likes cleaning the house and cooking meals. In the afternoon, an old woman come their house. Seven Dwarfs aren't at home. Snow White is alone at home. Old woman knocks the door. Snow White opens the door. Old woman gives an apple to Snow White. Snow White likes eating apple and she eats this apple. He eats this apple and she dies because this old woman is Queen. She doesn't like Snow White so she kills Snow White. Seven Dwarfs come to their house. They see Snow White. She is dead. They call Prince. Prince comes to Seven Dwarfs' house. Prince is handsome. He likes riding horse but he doesn't like walking or running. He loves Snow White. He kisses Snow White and she opens her eyes. They get marry and live happily ever after.
