**STORY TELLING**
LESSON: English
CLASS: 4th grade
UNIT: My clothes
Once upon a time there is an emperor whose only interest in
life is to dress up in fashionable clothes. His wardrop is full of t-shirts,
boots, sweaters, shoes, scarfs. Once, two thieves decide to teach him a lesson.
They tell the emperor that they are very fine tailors and can sew a lovely new
cloth for him. The emperor is very excited
He asks can you sew pants? The thieves answer, yes your
majesty. The emperor says “oh pants! I love pants. I love pants. The emperor
asks, can you sew a shirt? The thieves answer, ofcourse yes your majesty. The
emperor said “oh shirt! I love shirt.I love shirt.” The emperor asks, can you
sew a jacket? The thieves answer, sure yes your majesty the emperor says “ oh
jacket I love jacket I love jacket”
They say, they want to sew a dress for him. the emperor says
“oh dress! I love dress. I love dress”. Thieves add it will be so light and
fine that it will seem invisible. Only those who are stupid cannot see it. The
emperor adds that he also wants a hat and a coat. The thieves want so much
coins. The greedy king gives them lots of coins.
Finally, the emperor’s new dress is ready. He can see
nothing but he too does not want to appear stupid. He admires the dress and
thanks the tailors. Then he walks on the street. The people can only see a naked
emperor but no one admits it for fear of being thought stupid. They foolishly
praise the invisible fabric and the colours. The emperor is very happy.
At last, a child cried out, “The emperor is naked!” Soon
everyone begin to shout, “The emperor is not wearing anything!” The emperor
realises the truth but prefers to believe that his people are stupid.
-PRESENT-
ACTIVITY: Telling the story
AIM: Students will be able to listen to the story told by
teacher. They will remember cloth names and learn some new vocabularies.
MATERIALS:
Story, powerpoint presentation,
pictures
presentation;
pictures;
PROCEDURE: Teacher comes to the
class. she tells her students that she loves stories a lot. Teacher
asks students whether they like listening to the stories. Then the teacher whether they know the
story “the emperor’s new clothes” or not. Also she asks if they know whether
they like it or not.
Teacher sticks the cloth pictures
and their names on the board by mixing them.
After this short conversation
teacher turns te powerpoint on and starts to tell the story by heart by using
her body language, gesture and repetations.
When she says a cloth name she
points the picture out on the board so students can see tangible item.
While telling the story teacher
writes down new words that students do not know
In some parts of the story teacher
stops and to create students’ attention more she wants students to make
predictions about coming events.
After finishing the story if
students wish teacher tells the story one more time.
- PRACTICE-
ACTIVITY: Matching picture and the name
AIM: students will be able to catch up the word from the speech.
Students will be able to match the cloth picture and its name correctly.
MATERIALS:
Cloth pictures
PROCEDURE: Then teacher wants a volunteer students who begins to retall the story.
A volunteer holds a ball and when s/he tells a sentence she throws the ball back one of his/friends goes on telling with the following sentence.
Meanwhile teacher asks students to write down
the cloth names that narrator-students say
A couple of volunteer narrator
students done their work teacher wants students to come to the board and match
the cloth name-that their friend said while telling the story-with the correct
picture.
Students come one by one and they
pick the name and stick it under its matching cloth picture.

ACTIVITY:
Creating a new story
AIM:
Students will be alble to work
collaboratively as a agoup and whole class. Students will be able to use their
imagine and have fun with the product. Students will be able to work in groups
and make dramatization in front of the class.
MATERIALS: A piece of paper, paper crown
PROCEDURE:
Teacher divides the class into four
group (it is up to the student number)
Each group has a piece of paper and
there are 4-5 people in each group
In the group a students starts to
write “the emperor’s new clothes story” in his/her own version. s/he can make
changes.
After her another person in the
group takes the paper and goes on writing tied to the previous writing of her
friend.
Then another person takes the paper goes on
writing.
After completing the story thre are
4 new versions of “the emperor’s new clothes” story in the classroom.
Afterwards each group comes to the
board and acts out their new-created fresh story to their friends up to the role distribution the king can wear the paper crown.
