4th grade Unit 3 My Family Song Activities

UNIT : MY FAMILY

GRADE: 4

GRAMMAR POINT: HAVE GOT / HAS GOT

AIMS
-          To teach children without getting bored
-          To make children aware of the structures inductively
-          To help children to overcome their affective fitler
-          To encourage childen to take part in actively in their learning process
-          To teach the family members in an enjoyable way
-          To attract the attention of the students
-          To help students develop their pronunciation

MATERIALS
-          Pictures of family members
-          Powerpoint presentation
-          A song  

-          The alternative videos for fun

PROCEDURE OF THE ACTIVITES

PRESENT PART
            In the present part; teacher comes to the class and says ‘Hello’ to the students .She asks the students whether or not they love the songs. After taking the students’ responses, she opens the song and she wants students to listen to the song carefully and to focus on only specific words like mother, father, sister etc. Because teacher thinks that the song is hard to understand for the students.Students listen  to the song carefully.And the present part finishes.

PRACTICE PART
            In the practice part; teacher opens the song again. Students try to say the song while the song goes on on the computer. Teacher asks students what remember from the song and students works in groups and say the words they remember.Teacher writes the words that students say. Then teacher opens the powerpoint presentation and shows the pictures of family.

PRODUCE PART
            In the produce part; students opens another presentation which includes only names of the pictures such as father, mother, sister etc. And she puts the pictures on a desk and wants students to stick them on a wall. For example; teacher shows ‘grandmother’ and one of the students sticks the picture of  grandmother. This activity goes on like that and then teacher wants students  to make a small piece of song by working in groups and the lesson finishes.
