Grade / Unit: 4th Grade Unit 12 Storytelling

Language Point: Telling about weather.

Aims:

- Main aim of the activity is to practice how to talk about weather conditions by using visual aids.

- To provide students a meaningful language resource through story so they can understand and then produce the language.

Materials: 4 Puppets, Pictures

In the story there are 4 characters that represents 4 seasons. While telling the story teacher uses 4 different puppets and show some pictures related to weather. For example when blue bird says:  “I come from Winter.  It’s cold and snowy”, teacher shows a snowman picture. Moreover, after every character’s statement,  teacher asks students to repeat after the teacher, in order to engage students.

4 Birds

Once upon a time there are four birds. They like flying. One day they meet on a tree.

Blue bird says: I come from Winter.  It’s cold and snowy. I like playing snowball and making snowman.

Pink bird says: I come from Fall. It’s rainy and windy. I like watching the rain.

Green bird says: I come from Spring. It’s warm and sunny. There are a lot of flowers.

Orange bird says: I come from Summer. It’s sunny and hot.  I like swimming. Come with me. Let’s go to summer and let’s swim.

And they go to Summer and they swim.
