Grade/ Unit: 4th grade-Unit 11-Food and Drinks
Game: I go to the market and buy…
Language point: orange, banana, apple, chicken, rice, peas,
blackcurrant juice, chocolate cake, grapes, milk, potato, tomato, water,
carrot, tea, fruit juice, hamburger
Aims: to remember vocabulary of food and drinks, to listen
and comprehension, to make differences between words while listening, to hear
individual words and their pronunciation
Materials: pictures, PPP ( https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B_bjpHjqtmynMjNNVnJwNVlnWDA/edit?usp=sharing), chocolate cake song
Present:
Activity: remember vocabulary and listen to the song to find
which food and drinks name are in it
1- Teacher demonstrates the PPP. There
are pictures and spellings of some food and drinks.
2- Students remember them.
3- Students watch and listen to the
song twice. They see lyrics of the song while they are watching and listening.
4- Students classify the food and
drinks. Which are the food and drinks mentioned in the song and which are not
mentioned
Practice:
Activity: I
go to market and buy … game
1-
Here the class has to remember and repeat in the correct order a range
of vocabulary and add their own examples.
2-
Teacher demonstrates the game by using pictures in a bag. Teacher takes
a picture from the bag and says ‘I go to the market and buy milk’, for example.
Then, he or she takes another picture and say ‘I go to the market and buy milk
and bananas’.
3-
Then children start to play the game with whole class.
4-
Firstly, the teacher says ‘I go to the market and buy an apple’.
5-
A students continues and says ‘ I go to the market and buy an apple and
an orange’
6-
The games maintains like this. Students who are not able to say the food
and drinks vocabulary in the correct order will be out of the game.
Produce:
Activity: preparing a picnic list
1-
I
use a video. It is about the picnic.
2-
They
try to prepare their own picnic list.
3-
They
have an opportunity to tell about their picnic list the next class. I give them
feedback.
(They can use small pictures of what they want to have in the picnic and
write their spelling of backside of the pictures. In addition, they can store
them in an envelope.
This task is given as homework.)
