                     VOCABULARY TEACHING
4th grades

Time:40 min.

Unit 4: My Clothes

Materials: Worksheets, authentic materials( real clothes), flash cards, crossword puzzle

Presentation:

How to Begin the Lesson:Teacher comes to class and asks students what they are wearing. Then asks which clothes they like most and why. After that teacher shows students real clothes that he/she brings with his/her and asks whether they know what are these or not. Later teacher explains that they will learn clothes today. And then plays the video about subject. The procedure is followed by other two activities.

Practice:

Activity1:
Teacher divides students into group of two. And then gives some pictures of clothes and the words that identify pictures to each group. (3/4 is fine). Teacher wants   students to match pictures and words. Students begin to match the pictures and the words. When they finish matching teacher checks whether they true or not. Groups  change the materials until each groups encounter all clothes.  After all groups finish teacher gives positive reinforcement or some presents. Teacher   corrects pronounciation mistakes if necessary.

Activity2:
Teacher explains students that they will listen a short and simple description of clothes and try to guess what it is. If necessary the teacher reads more and more. Students listen the teacher carefully and say their guesses. Teacher reflect whether their guesses true or false. Later asks students why they say (for example: skirt) it and how they catch it.

Activity 3:
Teacher prepares a simple puzzle with pictures and delivers it each student. Students try to solve puzzle as much as they can. Teacher and students check puzzle together. If students have any mistake teacher corrects it and explains the reason.

Procedure:

How to End the Lesson: Teacher asks students what they have studied today, what they have learned, which activity they like more and why. Finally teacher  delivers a worksheet as homework and wants students to finish until next lesson.
