Grade: 4

Unit 1: New Friends

Grammar Point: “is”

Activity: Noticing Activity

Aims:

·         providing the students at 4th grade notice the structure “Hello! What’s your name?” and “My name is_____.”  in L2 which they come across first time

·         drawing the students’ attention easily while the students are listening to the song

Materials: a song video, another song video

Procedure:

In the first step, the students listen to first song video which is called “Hello, What’s your name?” and the second video once. While listening to the music and watching the second video, the teacher asks the students to repeat the lyrics of the song and do the gestures in the video. They do what the teacher asks for them.

In the second step, the students listen to the music and watch two videos once more and make the gestures in the second video again.

In the last step, the teacher draws two people on the board and makes dialogue between them. The first person “Ali” on the picture asks “Hello! What’s your name?” to the other person “Ayşe” on the picture. Ayşe says to Ali “My name is Ayşe”. Moreover, the teacher introduces herself “My name is Meryem.” and then she asks the question “What’s your name?” to her some students.  If the student doesn’t understand, she asks “Ayşe, Fatma or Sena?” by looking at the attendance list to encourage to guess what the teacher says.
