characters on a PowerPoint presentation, a story book , Cue cards
LANGUAGE POINT: Imperative sentences such as “Be
careful, Look out, Follow me, Don’t sit here, Don’t touch etc.

Objectives
:
-To activate
students’ schemata
-To
develop an understanding of using imperatives in different context
Procedure:
After
greeting students I will ask some questions such as “Do you like stories? What
is your favorite story? etc in order to activate their schemata. Then, I will
show them a colorful book prepared by me. I will take attention to the cover
page and ask “What do you see in this picture?” What does the title mean for you? Or “What do
you expect from the story?”,so students
think about the context of the story by looking at the picture or title
on the cover page or they develop an idea about it. Finally, I will say “Today,
I will tell you a beautiful story, be
silent and listen to me carefully.(I will use classroom instructions at the
same time to make students familiar with imperative form).
WHILE-STORYTELLING
“BE CAREFUL ANGEL!”
Once
upon a time, there is a lovely fish. Her name is Angel. Angel and her grandpa
live in the Pasific Ocean. One day, Grandpa is tired and says:”I am going to
sleep now Angel. Be good! And Don’t go anywhere. There are lots of dangerous
animals. Then, her friend Turtle comes and says: “Hi! Angel, What are you
doing? Angel says: “I am bored. Grandpa is sleeping.”Turtle asks:”Do you want
to come and play?” Angel says:”Yes, let’s go.” Angel and Turtle start to swim.
They are happy. Suddenly, Angel stops and says:”Look Turtle! A ball!” Turtle
looks it and says:”Look out! That is not a ball! It is a dangerous Octopus!
Don’t touch it! Swim quickly!
Angel and Turtle swim among the moss but
Angel tries to look under the rocks. At that moment, a big fish appears. Turtle
says:”Angel! Be careful! There is a dangerous fish behind you! Angel, follow
me! Angel becomes upset and says: “I am sorry Turtle. Look! I have got a
present for you.”Then, she wants to give it to Turtle, but Turtle does not
accept it and shouts:”This is a dangerous shell! Don’t touch it. Swim quickly.
Angel drops it and they swim. After a while, Angel says:”I am tired, Turtle.
Can we rest here?” and stops behind a rock. But Turtle says: “Don’t sit here,
Angel!”There is a dangerous sea snake. Swim quickly! Don’t wait here!”The snake
runs after them but they manage to escape.”Where are we?”Angel asks. Turtle
says:”I don’t know. I think we are lost.”Turtle and Angel look at each other in
a hurry and think how to go home. Suddenly, a big dolphin appears behind
Turtle. Angel shouts:”Look out Turtle. A dangerous animal is behind you! Turtle
looks and laughs:”That is not a dangerous animal. He is Nino. He is my friend.
Hello, Nino! We are lost. Can you help us?”Nino says:”Yes, I can help you.
Follow me!”They swim all together. When Angel comes, Grandpa wakes up and
says:”Oh! You are a good fish, Angel. Here is a present for you.”Angel
says:”Thanks, Grandpa.” and she sings a song: Look look look..be careful, do
not touch it and be good, Look look look be careful, do not touch it and be
good.!
Her
present is a book about dangerous animals of the Pacific OceanJJJ

Objectives:

will be able to practice their listening skills

will be able to predict what will happen next.

Procedure:
I
will tell the story using visual materials (pictures of the characters ) on
Power point presentation. While I am telling the story, I will stop from time
to time to ask some questions: What does Turtle say? What will happen next?
Etc.
POST-STORYTELLING
Activity 1:Worksheet time
Aims:
-To practice what they have learnt

Procedure:
I will give students a worksheet prepared by me and students will try to match the situations or pictures with the imperatives.
Activity 2: Acting outProcedure:
I will give students a worksheet prepared by me and students will try to match the situations or pictures with the imperatives.
-To practice language in a stress-free environment
-To be able practice imperative forms in a meaningful context.

Procedure:
Students work in pairs. They will try to act some parts of the story.For example;I will say "Angel you are bored and want to play with Turtle.You are swimming but suddenly a big sea snake appears." or "Angel and her grandpa are talking and her grandpa gives some advice to Angel."The aim is here to make students use imperative forms such as "Be careful, swim quickly, be good, follow me, do not go anywhere etc"I will write some imperative forms on the board so that students will remember easily or they can look at them when they need during the role play.
